Last Day in Georgia:-(

We got to sleep in (well, Christine did)!

Kay made us wheat blueberry muffins for breakfast.  Delicious!

After, Kay, mom and I went out shopping for the day.  Kay took us to the farmers co-op she belongs to so mom could get some Georgia peaches to bring home.

Hoping for some jam to be made (hint, hint mom).

We also hit, among other places, the dollar store so we could get some feather boas and such; as we promised Kelly we would again meet her and Jay at the bus stop.

While we were out Grover also had his pic taken with the Chick-fil-a cows.

Christine also asked we get her a coffee while out but, when we got to Dunkin Donuts this is what we found.

Grover also found this shirt but they didn't have it in his size (furry)

We went home and got ready to meet the kids at the bus stop.

Included:crazy hats, glasses, flutes, maracas, boas and silly string.

Of course we had time for a selfie at the bus stop while waiting.

When the bus came, Kelly ran off like a chicken but Jay stuck it out like the good sport he is. No lie, kids were saying they wishes they had aunts like us and begged us to silly string them.

Jay was hanging his head in shame but we know he enjoyed it!

He was especially happy when we made him put on a hat.

For dinner we went to a Japanese steakhouse called Shogun.

Loved the fish outside.

Grover took charge and started to cook.
Eventually chef Richy came along and took over though.

It was mom, Christine, and Super G's first time in a Japanese steakhouse. There was obvious shock on G's face when the first flames shot up.

The chef threw a piece of egg to each person and they had to catch it in their mouths.

Grover was quite impressed with the onion volcano as well.

We were also celebrating Kelly's b-day so they gave her a hat to wear and sang happy birthday.

Although Chef Richy toon a while to warm up to Grover, we eventually got a pic of them together.  He was very excited when he learned G talks!

Driving home I looked in the rear view and this is what I saw

Yep, mom and Kelly were wearing our driving hats!

So we got home, packed up and hit the road!

Let the driving begin!

Savannah Day 2

We set aside our morning to go to the pool.

But before going to the pool we went to have breakfast at 700 Drayton.

After the night he had, Grover needed his coffee more than ever!

One of the waitress' has a car named Gonzo; she was very excited to meet Grover.

Our waitress, Kara, was a fan as well.
The executive chef even came to meet Grover (and give Chris some lingonberries).

After breakfast we headed to the pool for the morning.  After we packed our stuff and checked out.

We walked over to have lunch at Mrs. Wilkes.  Highly recommend this.  You have to stand outside and wait to get in (I used this as an opportunity to shop; mom used it to meet people).

When you go in, you're seated with strangers and you eat family style. So much fun to meet people from Texas, Virginia and some locals from Savannah.

After lunch we walked over and caught the Old Savannah Tour trolley (continuing from yesterday). We had more people come in board again including:
Suzie King Taylor

Adam Clayton

And John Mercer

We stopped in at Saint John the Baptist. Mom was very excited to be in church. Super Grover went to confession.

Not sure what his penance was but he was sitting in that pew praying for quite some time.

Or maybe he was just enjoying the church himself.

After, we hopped back on the tour.

Loved this sign.

Loved this guy.

After the tour, we went and picked up Walter and headed home (being stalked by a soldier from Kentucky who follows us all the way home!).

Savannah Here We Come!

So today we got up early. To Christine's dismay, we left the house at 6:30 to head to Savannah.

There was ALOT of traffic.

Once we got through Atlanta we stopped at IHOP for breakfast.  Super G and Kay enjoyed their morning cup of Joe.

Nicholas our waiter was fantastic.

We made friends along the drive...like this guy who kept pace with us..,until we took his picture...then he held back...not sure why...

We made it to Savannah and checked into our hotel; the Mansion on Forsyth Park.

The rooms are incredible with a view of the park, huge beds and large bath with soaking tub.

Kay tried to soak in the tub but noticed a certain furry blue adorable monster looking over the wall at her...oh the horror!

They have art hanging all over.  Since they didn't name the pieces we did.

Here is Teddy Bear with Big Boobs:

Carlos and the Monkey

Angry Cabbage vs. The Tree

Mono-boob

My Little Pony on Acid

Grover had his picture taken with some of the art too:

We went out and got on the Old Savannah Tour trolley (which conveniently has a stop right at the hotel). Just in time too because it started pouring rain and whipping wind as soon as we got on.  Our tour driver was Bill MacIntosh (AKA Billy Mac).

Our tour trolley selfie:

Some sites from our tour:

The oldest hospital which has tunnels under from where they brought people out to have them incinerated so disease would spread.

The oldest tree in Savannah (over 500  years old)

Forrest Gump jumped in board

We went to Paula Dean's restaurant for lunch. Not recommended.  Food was gross and way to heavy.

After lunch we walked down along the shops. I found my favorite sho(and, of course, bought some hats)!

Mom bought her pralines from these guys.

Grover had his picture take with Christine along the way

He also took his picture with some of the sites

Once we were done we took the hotel shuttle back from the waterfront. Mom took a nap. Chris, Kay, Grover and I headed to the packie.

Grover was rocking out with his wooden cock at the packie.
Then he sailed away with the captain.

Savannah allows you to walk with an open container which we took full advantage of!

When we got back to the hotel, Grover got his drink on!

It was down hill from there. Apparently Super G can't hold his liquor.
First he trapped himself in a glass case:
Then he came out of the bathroom with toilet paper on his boot (how embarrassing)

We found him hanging from the chandelier!

Eventually he passed out in the ice bucket

Next thing we knew he was getting frisked, cuffed and stuffed in a cop car.

We had to bail him out and get him back to the hotel.

We left Grover and took a walk around Forsyth Park.
Kay and Chris found flowers to accessorize with; so beautiful!

Kay made some new pasties!

We walked around the park and found a lovely fountain.  Chris and Kay used their drinks to mimic the fountain.

Kay illegally climbed the fence to rinse off in the fountain.

We played on the springy toucan and duck.

Chris and Kay almost used these toilets....yikes!

As we got back to the hotel we took Grover's picture on the horse statue.

One of the valet guys asked what we were doing and we told him about Grover.  He asked if we had a picture with a "random black guy".  We said no so he asked to be included...who are we to say no!

Then he thought it would be funny if Grover was hitting him.

The ladies at reception wanted to be in on the fun too!

When we got back to the room Grover repented for his sins.

Since he was sorry we took him to the bar with us for an espresso martini.

We finally went back to the room and headed to bed.

Christine was texting Kay and I from her room about moms snoring. We ended the night by sending her this picture of us wearing some new hats:

Quote of the day:
Jason the bartender at the mansion: the devils beating his wife.  Apparently this is what they say when it's sunny out but it's raining.
